Preston North End manager Phil Brown has utilised the loan market on the final day of activity to bring in South African international centre half Bongani Khumalo from Tottenham Hotspur on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old defender is currently on international duty with the Bafana Bafana ahead of an African Nations Cup qualifier with Egypt at the weekend, but emails were exchanged between the clubs and the player to get the necessary paperwork signed and lodged with the footballing authorities before the 5pm deadline on Thursday afternoon.
Khumalo joined Spurs in January from Supersport United for £1.5million, after he impressed during a trial spell but has yet to make his Spurs debut and Harry Redknapp has agreed to send him out on loan to the Lilywhites.
He has been handed the number 3 shirt vacated by former Club captain Callum Davidson and will be eligible to make his debut against Swansea City at Deepdale on Saturday 2nd April once he has returned to the country at the weekend.
